Next CHIP
Program February 9 - March 4, 2004
CHIP
stands for Coronary Health Improvement
Project, a fast-paced 30-day program aimed to bring you better
health. CHIP is a life-style program aimed at teaching great
health habits in a supportive group setting. Based on the latest
scientific research and working in conjunction with your personal
physician, you will learn not only how different lifestyles affect your
body and longevity, but will see practical demonstrations that you can
go home and try in your kitchen. CHIP is sponsored locally by the Ephrata Seventh-day Adventist church, but is part of a much larger network of CHIP programs both nationally and internationally. You can learn more about the CHIP program by clicking on the link to the right. Back to Top
Another ministry of the Ephrata Seventh-day Adventist church is one that enriches the devotional life of members and visitors alike. Prayer meeting is a time, usually mid week, when a group of believers come together to study some topic or aspect of God's word and to jointly pray for specific topics or needs pertaining to our daily needs and joys as Christians. We accept God's promise, that where two or three are gathered in my name, I will be with you. A mid-week prayer meeting unites us with each other as brothers and sisters in Gods' family. We can strengthen one another as we share and pray together in the presence of a caring and loving Heavenly Father, who loves us so much that He gave his only Begotten Son for us. Our normal routine tends to tire and stress us, and perhaps lets us forget that God desires to walk with us, to share his love, and renew our strength and our faith. Another
very
important joy in prayer meetings is the social time it affords as we
enjoy the bonding and
friendship as well as an opportunity to study some specific topic or a
whole book of the Bible in a systematic manner, which goes deeper into
the books' message as it relates to our individual daily lives in our
Christian walk. Prayer meeting will increase our knowledge, give us
spiritual strength, bless us and cement our bonding to the Church. Back to Top
Community Service
Community Service represents one
of our
local church's primary contributions to the needs of our community, as
it functions as the primary clothing bank for the Ephrata/Soap Lake
area. Staffed by volunteers and supplied by donations of clothing
from the community, this ministry is able to offer free clothing to
those in need, thanks to the generosity of others through clothing
donations and in part through "Hope for Humanity," our annual funds
drive. Check out the world-wide work of the Adventist Development
and Relief Agency (ADRA) for more
of
what Community Services is all about. Back to TopHope for Humanity is part of the humanitarian arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's worldwide commitment to try to be the hands of Jesus to hurting people. It seeks to provide emergency aid in times of disaster, and also to help with long-term development in 3rd world countries. Examples might include helping African villages access clean drinking water, thereby providing long-term health benefits and consistent crops. Hope for Humanity is a time each fall or winter when volunteers from participating churches go into their community inviting people to give to this humanitarian work that seeks to help those in need, regardless of ethnic or religious background. Because of volunteer labor, 100% of every dollar donated by the community goes to fund humanitarian projects (to see how your donation is spent, click here). Back to Top Whispering Winds School
